Town Centre West Strategic Regeneration Framework
Town Centre West SRF sets out the vision to transform underused brownfield land in the west of the town centre (the original MDC boundary) into vibrant neighbourhoods with 4,000 new homes and 1m sq ft of employment space. Covering 130 acres, it will create high-quality mixed homes, major employment space, green areas and improved connectivity. The framework provides a clear, long-term plan for investment and has helped establish Stockport as a national exemplar for town centre regeneration.

Extending the vision across the town centre
Town Centre East Strategic Regeneration Framework
Town Centre East builds on this momentum, setting out an ambitious vision to transform 280 acres to the east of the A6. With potential for 4,000 new homes within three distinct neighbourhoods, social infrastructure and public spaces such as a riverside park, it significantly expands the scale of regeneration. Together with Town Centre West, it forms a unified vision to deliver 8,000 new homes across the town centre, supporting growth, connectivity and long-term investment in Stockport.

Turning vision into delivery
Strategic Business Plan
The Strategic Business Plan, covering the five-year period 2026-31, translates long-term ambition into a clear set of delivery commitments. It sets out how Stockport MDC will deliver new homes, employment space and essential infrastructure, guided by a focus on community, sustainability and economic growth. The Plan provides a structured, outcomes-led framework for working with partners, investors and communities to bring forward development at scale and ensure lasting benefits for the town centre and Stockport.
