Overview
St Thomas’ Gardens is transforming the long-derelict Grade II-listed former hospital site into a pioneering, all-age residential community. Acquired by Stockport Council from Homes England, the scheme will bring together new affordable homes with integrated health and care provision, including an 82-bed intermediate care facility and supported housing. After being vacant for more than 15 years, construction on the care facility, known as the Centre for Living Well, is set to complete in 2026, marking significant progress in bringing the historic site back into use.
