Overview

A prime example of regeneration that honours Stockport’s rich heritage. Once an integrated cotton works, the Grade II-listed mill complex has been sensitively restored by developer Capital&Centric, in partnership with Stockport Council and Stockport MDC, alongside striking new-build elements to create 253 riverside homes. Weir Mill will become a stand-out destination beneath the iconic viaduct along the banks of the River Mersey, with not only homes but greenery, courtyards, vibrant outdoor squares for events and live music, alongside a mix of creative independent bars, restaurants and coffee shops.

Restoring an 18th-century mill into 21st-century homes

The redevelopment of Weir Mill has unlocked one of Stockport’s most historic industrial sites and reimagined it as a lively, character‑packed destination. The development consists of a mix of one, two, and three-bedroom homes within modern, new-build blocks and the restored mill, featuring exposed brick and vaulted arches. The restored wheelhouse and mill structures also provide resident amenities including co‑working areas, a lounge, gym and rooftop spaces. The scheme breathes new life into one of Stockport’s oldest mills while creating a destination that feels contemporary and distinctly local. 

Waterside community

Weir Mill is set to be one of Stockport’s most exciting places to live and spend time. The waterside neighbourhood has attracted ambitious independent operators, including Rita Ray’s – the North’s first women sports‑focused bar, Italian restaurant Social Osteria, and Stockport-grown book shop and events space, Prologue. Sat beneath the viaduct and featuring restored cast iron columns of former Weaver’s Shed, Weaver’s Square will be a major new public hang-out spot featuring live music, street‑food pop-ups, parties, markets and al fresco dining. Alongside this, access to the River Mersey will be opened up with more seating areas and planting.
