Reimagining a historic structure

Originally built as a highly resilient industrial structure, the former sorting office has been carefully reimagined to create a distinctive place to live in the town centre. Innovative design solutions have transformed the building, introducing corner aspect bedrooms and maximising natural light throughout. At its centre, a striking communal atrium creates a sense of openness, complemented by a rooftop garden offering expansive views. An 18m living wall spanning all four elevations – the largest in the North of England – introduces over 100,000 plants, creating a landmark feature and reinforcing the development’s strong environmental credentials.

Flexible urban living

Mailbox brings together homes and workspace, reflecting modern, urban lifestyles. Street-level commercial units provide flexible space for small and growing businesses, with prominent frontage onto the A6, along with a mix of office and meeting space. Designed with young professionals in mind, the apartments offer generous layouts and strong connectivity, just a short walk from both the railway station and Interchange. This combination of location, design and amenity has made Mailbox a highly desirable place to live.
